Women's Mental Health and Addiction

At Canyon Crossing Recovery, we recognize that mental health and addiction are deeply interlinked. The journey to recovery necessitates addressing these intertwined issues with equal attention and care. Our approach provides inclusive mental health care for our residents and extends to primary care for those with a history of substance use disorder.

Our Focus: Women's MentalWellness

The experiences women have with mental health conditions often vary significantly from those of men. Certain conditions, such as depression and anxiety, are notably more prevalent in women. Moreover, some conditions, like Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and perinatal depression, are exclusive to women due to unique physiological aspects like hormonal fluctuations.

Cultural and societal factors also contribute to the complexity of women’s mental health. Women often face barriers to accessing care due to responsibilities like caregiving, coupled with societal expectations. They are also at an increased risk of trauma, and can face a more rapid progression of substance abuse compared to men. These factors, among others, necessitate a gender-responsive approach to mental health treatment, which is precisely what we offer at Canyon Crossing Recovery.
