Our Evidence-Based Approach

Canyon Crossing is grounded in evidence-based practices that have demonstrated effectiveness through years of psychological research. We employ a range of modalities that have proven to be transformational for our clients. This page will delve into the scientifically validated therapies we utilize at our women’s rehab in Arizona.

A LIFE OF FREEDOM AND HAPPINESS IS

Possible.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT, a well-known “talk therapy,” enables clients to alter their thoughts and the problematic behaviors that arise from them over several sessions. This method allows women to disassemble the negative beliefs that fuel substance use disorders.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a skill-based intervention providing women with tools to bring enduring improvements in their lives. Its foundational principles include distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and emotional regulation – essential skills in treatment and everyday life.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR, a cutting-edge therapy, aids women in overcoming past trauma. Therapists employ a mix of rapid eye movements and personal dialogues to facilitate the processing of painful memories, enabling clients to move forward.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Maintaining motivation throughout recovery is vital. MI, primarily used in addiction recovery settings, helps women at Canyon Crossing set goals, optimize their strengths, and meet various benchmarks throughout the treatment process.

Adventure Therapy

Through engaging outdoor activities, Adventure Therapy imparts essential recovery lessons, including emotional regulation, healthy risk-taking, and self-confidence building. Our residents enjoy hiking, rock climbing, tubing, and more in our location of Prescott, Arizona.

Psychodrama, Role Play, and Family Sculpting

Recognizing addiction as a family disease, we place family involvement at the heart of recovery. Psychodrama provides a unique opportunity to engage the entire family in therapy, aiding in understanding relationships, dynamics, and challenges within the household.

Art and Music Therapy

Addiction can often suppress the ability to identify and express feelings. We employ art and music, potent tools of expression, to encourage clients to connect with their emotions, explore their passions, and express themselves openly.

Ecotherapy

Research validates the therapeutic potential of nature, with time spent in green spaces linked to improved physical and mental health. Given our beautiful, natural setting in Arizona, ecotherapy forms a fundamental aspect of our rehab program.

Mindfulness Training

Mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing and guided imagery, are used to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and alleviate cravings for those in recovery from substance use.

EquineTherapy

Equine Therapy integrates horses into the therapeutic process, aiding in rapid client progression in areas such as self-confidence, empathy, responsibility, social interactions, problem-solving, and emotional awareness.

Somatic Experiencing

This body-oriented approach to trauma treatment enables those with PTSD, trauma, and stress-related disorders to build resilience and tolerance for certain sensations through targeted motor responses.
